HEAT GRID

By 2050, the Dutch energy supply must be completely CO2 neutral. A contribution to the achievement of this objective can be made by making greater use of heat networks.

Heat from power stations and waste incinerators, for example, can be used in these heat networks. Fossil sources are also increasingly being replaced by renewable sources, such as bio-energy and geothermal energy, to generate heat. In addition, work is being done on so-called 'smart' heat networks in which the supply and demand of different users is matched to the availability of heat and cold. 

These networks usually run through densely built-up areas in which the existing infrastructure and daily life are to be kept as undisturbed as possible during construction. By means of the various trenchless techniques, we can lay pipelines for heat networks with the least possible inconvenience to the environment. When drilling, only an entry and exit pit need to be dug without having to break open the entire route.
