Customer challenge

As part of the energy transition, Eneco has laid a new heat pipeline between the central area and Kanaleneiland. This new heat conduit crosses the Merwede Canal where two pipes had to be drilled under the canal. One requirement was that the canal had to remain open for shipping.

What was our solution

Due to the required coverage under the water bed of the Merwede Canal, a construction pit depth of approximately NAP -10.45 m had to be taken into account, with the excavation level of the entry and exit pit set at NAP -11.95m. These tubs contain 20 meter long steel sheet piles and several strut frames for reinforcement. Furthermore, screw anchors have been installed in the concrete floor due to forces on the concrete floor. All this, including the pouring of a concrete floor, has been installed under water. Special Trelleborg cuffs and injection blocks have been fitted for the drilling. The drilling was done using 12-metre long steel tubes.

What were the advantages of this

With this method, work was carried out safely, with no disruptions and vessels able to sail through the Merwede Canal unhindered. This is the deepest drilling in the history of Kouwenberg Infra and undoubtedly also the deepest Mircotunneling in the Netherlands in recent years.

 Vandaag hebben we de tweede OFT boring (beide 60 meter, GVK Ø550) ontvangen op ons project in Ede, dit betreft een spoorkruising tussen Ede-Wageningen en Veenendaal De Klomp. De primaire warmteleiding voorziet in de toekomst de huishoudens op het SOMA terrein van warmte.

OFT boring Weesp

Afgelopen week hebben wij een OFT boring van 56 meter (polymeerbeton Ø400/Ø550) gerealiseerd op station Weesp, dit ten behoeve van aan te leggen droge blusleidingen. Inclusief aanvalskasten voor de brandweer aan beide zijden van het station en brandkranen op de perrons. Om de treinreizigers zo min mogelijk tot last te zijn hebben we met beperkte ruimte een veilige werkplek gerealiseerd, tevens hebben we het drukscherm van damwanden in eigen beheer geplaatst.
